NYA depends on an ever-growing network of volunteers across the country to run our programming. One group of volunteers who are a key component of the Canadian Program are
Host Families. NYA Canadian Program participants travel, in pairs, to communities across southern Canada to live with a host family and to volunteer at a work placement for approximately five weeks. The host family is the foundation of this experience, providing participants with support and a home away from home.
The participants will spend their days volunteering at a predetermined work placement. Host families are encouraged to introduce the youth to their community and of course to involve them in family
activities. A stipend is provided to cover the cost of room and board.
